Leveraging Business Intelligence in Regulatory Systems: A Strategic Approach
Keywords: Regulatory compliance, Business intelligence, Data governance, Predictive analytics, Competitive intelligence.
Abstract: This article explores the strategic integration of Business Intelligence (BI) within regulatory systems to transform compliance functions from operational burdens into sources of competitive advantage. Through a comprehensive article of recent research, the article examines how organizations across various regulated industries leverage BI capabilities to enhance compliance effectiveness while simultaneously generating valuable business insights. The discussion addresses four key dimensions: the strategic value proposition of regulatory intelligence; technical considerations for successful implementation; organizational challenges and change management requirements; and industry-specific case studies demonstrating transformative applications. By synthesizing findings from multiple studies, the article provides a framework for understanding how BI tools enable organizations to move beyond reactive compliance approaches toward proactive, data-driven strategies that anticipate regulatory changes, optimize compliance processes, and identify strategic opportunities emerging from regulatory trends. This integration represents a paradigm shift in how organizations conceptualize and operationalize regulatory compliance, particularly in heavily regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and energy.
