Architecting Interoperability: Enterprise Systems Integration Using Oracle PeopleSoft APIs and Integration Broker
Keywords: Enterprise integration, PeopleSoft Integration Broker, API-first architecture, stateless interactions, middleware optimization.
Abstract: This work presents a comprehensive framework for integrating Oracle PeopleSoft with modern cloud-native applications in enterprise environments. As organizations navigate digital transformation while maintaining mission-critical legacy ERP systems, PeopleSoft can be positioned as an integration-ready platform rather than a constraint. The architecture explored emphasizes API-first design principles, stateless interactions, and upgrade-safe development practices using PeopleSoft Integration Broker, Component Interfaces, and Application Engine. Real-world implementation patterns across identity management, financial data exchange, HR/payroll synchronization, and analytics demonstrate significant operational and financial benefits. Technical considerations, including performance optimization, error handling, regulatory compliance, and integration method selection, provide actionable guidance for organizations seeking to maximize their PeopleSoft investments while embracing modern integration approaches. The framework addresses common integration challenges such as data consistency, security governance, transactional integrity, and scalability through a layered architecture that leverages PeopleSoft's native capabilities while incorporating contemporary integration paradigms, enabling organizations to create resilient, flexible integration ecosystems that balance operational stability with the agility needed for digital transformation initiatives.
