Multi-Tenant OpenID Connect Integration: Architectural Strategies for Secure and Scalable Authentication
Keywords: Multi-tenant authentication, OpenID Connect, identity management, security architecture, distributed authentication.
Abstract: Multi-tenant authentication emerges as a transformative architectural paradigm addressing complex identity management challenges within contemporary digital ecosystems. The exponential growth of cloud-based services, distributed computing models, and sophisticated security requirements has catalyzed the development of advanced authentication strategies. OpenID Connect (OIDC) represents a pivotal technological solution that transcends traditional authentication mechanisms, providing a comprehensive framework for managing identity across diverse organizational contexts while maintaining robust security boundaries. The article enables a single application instance to serve multiple isolated customer domains, each potentially leveraging distinct identity management configurations. By implementing sophisticated architectural strategies, organizations can unlock unprecedented levels of authentication flexibility, supporting comprehensive isolation, flexible identity provider integration, scalable authentication infrastructure, and granular access control mechanisms.
