Le proverbe dans la construction du discours eʋe, analyse de Ku ɖi ƒo na wo de Klu AKOTEY

Abstract

The proverb in the construction of discourse eʋe, analysis of Ku ɖi ƒo na wo of Klu AKOTEY. Several circumstances of social life require appropriate discourse and the convening of appropriate resources. This article, based on semiotics, anthropology and literary analysis, has shown that one of the usual resources that reveals the effectiveness and density of discourse among Eʋe is the proverb. The latter is used, among other things, in the family setting, in legal proceedings, in the expression of man’s face to destiny. For its insertion in the discourse, the speaker resorts to the use of tool-words (conjunction of coordination or subordination, adverb) according to his need to express a logical relationship of cause, consequence, condition or opposition. Moreover, any user of a proverb honours the memory of the builders by the use of generic terms evoking them or by reference to a personality. He also uses introductory formulas that elevate the proverb to the rank of witness or truth. Finally, the study showed that the social status of the proverb in discourse stems from the fact that the proverbial word not only constitutes the flavour of the discourse, but also establishes a connection with culture as well as being a property of the community
