Abstract

The world is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities in the 21st century. From climate change and pandemics to poverty and inequality, the global community needs to work together to find effective and sustainable solutions. The United Nations (UN) is the most universal and representative organization for global governance and multilateral cooperation. However, the UN also faces many difficulties and criticisms in fulfilling its mandate and adapting to the changing world. This paper aims to provide an overview of the main challenges and opportunities of global governance and multilateral cooperation in the UN, and to suggest some ways to for enhance the role and performance of the UN and its partners in delivering global public goods and protecting global commons for the benefit of all humanity.
