Harnessing Master Data Management (MDM) for the Successful Launch of FDA-Approved Treatments in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Keywords: MDM, FDA, Pharmaceutical Industry
Abstract: In today’s highly regulated and competitive pharmaceutical landscape, the successful launch of FDA-approved treatments demands more than scientific innovation—it requires precise, timely, and coordinated data management. This study explores the role of Master Data Management (MDM) as a strategic enabler in optimizing treatment launches across the pharmaceutical industry. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates quantitative data analysis from 60 FDA-approved drug launches and qualitative insights from industry professionals. Key findings reveal a strong positive correlation between MDM maturity and launch success, measured through metrics such as timeliness, regulatory compliance, and early revenue performance. Advanced MDM systems significantly reduce launch delays by enhancing data quality, real-time access, and cross-functional system integration. ANOVA results confirm statistically significant differences in launch performance across varying MDM maturity levels. The study concludes that organizations with robust MDM frameworks are better positioned to meet regulatory requirements, coordinate internal functions, and accelerate time-to-market for new therapies. As pharmaceutical companies strive for launch excellence, MDM emerges as a critical foundation for achieving operational agility, compliance, and competitive advantage in delivering life-saving treatments to patients
