Coaching New University Lecturers in E- Learning Practice: the Case of the Virtual University of Sénégal (UVS)

Abstract

An experiment leading to train new  colleagues in E-Learning has started at the Virtual University of Senegal (UVS) for three years. In order to improve students’ learning and success, the coaching process  emphasizes on the knowledge building related to the professional action of a teacher and on the development of pedagogical skills from a co-analysis of real teaching practice. The training, too aims at facilitating the management of teaching and the integration of the teachers in the commnity of UVS as well. The process helps the development of an objective vision of teaching and a professional teaching identity  as well. The training process, in addition, stimulates the professional autonomy of the  new teacher. Those in charge of the training  get  advantages in monitoring such a process adequately
