Abstract: The mode of daily operation of Business Intelligence (BI) ecosystems is becoming more complicated, which leads to the emerging tendencies of product owners turning to performance-based roadmap planning strategies, where the evolutionary path of the product should be defined by the quantifiable improvement of the organizational performance. This paper presents an in-depth model of designing KPI-oriented product roadmaps, thus incorporating measurable data in every step of product lifecycle management. Based on data-driven decision-making, performance measurement, and iteration development principles, the framework outlines the ways in which KPIs can influence the process of setting goals as well as prioritizing and refining them continually in the field of BI product management. Because user-centric measurements can be connected to roadmap deliverables, including technical and business-noticeable metrics, product owners in BI groups can help fast-track time to ROI, the alignment of stakeholders, and acceptance in the various BI settings. This paper also looks at real-life implementations of KPI-based roadmaps in industries so as to help show how this kind of approach can help create agility and, most importantly, maximize the ROIs of BI investments.
