The Reflection of Hanafi Principles in the Work “Bahra-L-Favoid”
Keywords: Amr ibn Zubayr, Aisha, and Abu Hurayrah, Allah produces reverence, awe and glorification, Hanafi school
Abstract: Abu Bakr Kalobodiy was a hadith scholar, an expert in jurisprudence, a virtuous Shaykh, and a prominent figure of his time, recognized as an imam in his era. He was one of the Hanafi scholars from Central Asia. Born in Bukhara, where notable Hanafi scholars such as Abu Hafs Kabir and Abu Hafs Sag‘ir were also active, he lived and passed away in the same region. Sources indicate that Abu Bakr Kalobodiy studied fiqh with Abu Hafs Sag‘ir of Bukhara. Scholars have unanimously agreed that he adhered to the Hanafi school of thought. His biographical details, as mentioned in works such as Al-javharu-l-muziyya fi taboqoti-l-hanafiyya and Al-fuadu-l-bahiyya fi tarojimi-l-hanafiyya, further support his affiliation with the Hanafi school. Several sections of his work Bahra-l-favoid address fiqh issues, clearly demonstrating that Abu Bakr Kalobodiy was a proponent of the Hanafi school of jurisprudence.
