Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the main factors that influence and shape Nigeria’s foreign policy decisions and outcomes, as well as the role of public opinion in this process. Nigeria’s foreign policy has been characterized by continuity and change, depending on the political, economic, social, and security challenges facing the country and its leaders. The paper examines the foreign policy structures and actors, the decision-making models and processes, and the impact of domestic and international factors on Nigeria’s foreign policy choices and actions. The paper also discusses how public opinion affects foreign policy making in Nigeria, especially in the context of democratization and globalization. The paper concluded with some recommendations for improving Nigeria’s foreign policy performance and image in the world.
