Abstract: This article explores the convergence of mobile computing frameworks and automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), a development reshaping intelligent vehicle systems. It highlights how microkernel-based designs and hypervisors enable modular, safe, and flexible vehicle platforms. Drawing on principles from mobile OS environments, it introduces containerized execution and real-time abstraction layers that allow automotive applications to be updated, personalized, and secured dynamically. The article emphasizes how this architectural transformation supports rapid innovation, secure OTA updates, and enhanced user experiences across devices and vehicles—while preserving real-time performance and safety standards essential for automotive systems.
